Material handling system
introduction
Seedlings for flowers and plants are grown in a fully automated process during their growth. At Flex we developed the tray that enables this high level of automation: reliable, efficient and cost effective.

Creating a new reality for Florensis
Florensis grows seedlings in a number of steps, from seed to small plant. The sheer volume of their production makes mechanization of this process nessesary. Trays with different cavity dimensions are an essential component throughout the process. There were serious problems with the existing trays in expanded Polystyrene. The trays only lasted 5 growing cycles before they had to be replaced. Breakage also created a huge mountain of waste. The accuracy
of the existing trays made effective mechaniszation very difficult. All of these issues were resolved in the development of the new Polypropylene tray. Additionally a number of other advantages were incorporated: weight reduction, cheap and reliable tray identification and improved growing characteristics of the plants.

Creating a new reality in the production process at Florensis
Speed and reliability in the production of seedlings are crucial to Florensis. Replacing the old expanded PS trays has been the most crucial step in bringing production to a new level.
